Mercedes has expanded the Maybach family with a super luxury cabriolet with the price tag of €300.000.
There is some time passed since Maybach was independent manufacturer. They were in a major financial crisis and Mercedes-Benz took the opportunity to take over them. Mercedes-Benz first produced Maybach sedan based on the S-Class and the extended Pullman S-Class variant.
Now in the lineup, Mercedes-Benz added one more model, the luxury Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet, which should provide the best open-air ride so the drivers will feel like they are driving the one of the best convertible cars in the world.
Mercedes-Maybach has all that necessary features to become the king of the convertibles. Based on the already luxurious the Mercedes S-class, the car has been outfitted with exclusive Mercedes-Maybach features such as new front bumper with upgraded lower section and also numerous chrome highlights to visibly enhance the special aspirations of luxury. Other special elements include the Maybach emblem, the Maybach logo on the floor and the high-quality 20‑inch Maybach forged wheels in a powerful design and a bichromatic finish.
The interior of the Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet brings some of the visionary ideas of the Concept S‑Class Coupé show car, including the dynamic “flowing lines” in the seats. Exclusive to the Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet are trim elements in designo nut brown magnolia – either with flowing lines or in a high-gloss finish. Nine additional interior colour concepts – from pastel yellow/black to porcelain/saddle brown – provide for further individualisation. The future owners will also get, among other things, Swarovski headlamps and waterfall-like seat upholstery layout, but since this is a convertible, the Aircap automatic wind deflector and Airscarf neck-level heating system are also part of the package.
The heart of the car is a 6.0-liter bi-turbo V12 engine with an output of 630 hp (463 kW) and 1,000 Nm torque, which has been borrowed from the AMG S65 Cabrio. It has an average fuel consumption of 19.6 mpg US (12.0 lt/100 km) and emits 272 g/km of CO2.
Mercedes decided to produce just 300 units of this model, of which 75 will be for the US market.
