Following the all-electric Mustang Mach-E crossover, Ford is also planning to offer a hybrid version of the Mustang coupe.
According to some media outlets, this should happen in the next generation of the Mustang that is otherwise expected in 2021 or 2022.
As expected, the new Mustang hybrid will combine V8 petrol (rear-wheel drive) and two electric motors (front-wheel drive). This means that such a Mustang will have all-wheel drive, based on the CD6 platform.
It remains to be seen whether Ford will also offer more affordable non-hybrid versions of the new Mustang with a V8 or four-cylinder engine.
Also, the convertible variant is likely to be on offer again, since such a version still forms a significant part of the Mustang’s sales.
Finally, the plan is for the new Mustang to receive both a modernized infotainment system and numerous driver assistance systems.
