Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton visited the Mercedes factory this week, in the midst of the team’s preparations for the new Formula 1 season.
According to the some mediums, Hamilton visited the factory today and on Monday, fulfilling the pre-season tasks needed to participate in the new season.
It is uncertain whether Hamilton will drive this year, and it was speculated that he would end his career disappointed with the shocking ending last season when he lost his eighth championship title after controversial decisions by the race management in Abu Dhabi.
He was visited in the last lap by the main competitor for the title, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, after the director of the race, Michael Masi, did not correctly apply the rules regarding the safety vehicle on the track.
Hamilton then withdrew from the public eye. He made a brief statement after the race on December 12, did not appear at a press conference and skipped the awards ceremony in Paris, and last appeared in public on December 15, when he was knighted at Windsor Castle.
He returned to social networks on February 5, and since then he has published several videos from the training, but that is still not a confirmation that he will race this year.
Hamilton is waiting for the outcome of the investigation that the International Automobile Federation (FIA) is conducting in connection with the events in the race in Abu Dhabi, that it will decide after that whether it will participate in the championship this season .
The new season in Formula 1, with new rules and a record 23 races, starts on March 20 with the race for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Pre-season testing in Barcelona will take place from 23 to 25 February, and in Bahrain from 10 to 12 March.
