The Most Famous Car Chase Returns: Steven Spielberg Directs The New ‘Bullitt’ Movie

The Ford Mustang has appeared frequently on the cinema screen since its introduction in the 1960s. But of all his Hollywood appearances, his performance in the movie “Bullitt” was one of the most impressive, and to such an extent that Ford created three Mustang Bullitts.
If you’re a fan of the movie, the Mustang Bullitt or the character of Frank Bullitt, we have good news for you. Steven Spielberg is reportedly directing the new ‘Bullitt’
Namely, the new film will not be a remake of the original 1968 movie. Instead, it will be an original story focused on Frank Bullitt, the main protagonist played by Steve McQueen. Kristie Macosko Krieger will co-produce the film with Spielberg, and the screenplay will be written by Oscar winner Josh Singer.
Recall, McQueen’s character was a San Francisco police detective who was on the hunt for mafia bosses who killed a witness to the case he was working on. The role was considered a turning point in McQueen’s career, although the car chase scene is considered one of the most famous car chases in the history of cinema.
Will we see another cult car chase scene in the new movie? Probably, but how this will not be a remake is still a mystery for now. In addition, Spielberg is not unfamiliar with car chases, given some of his earlier works such as “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “Minority Report”.
Sources told Deadline Hollywood that at the time of writing there are no scripts yet and that the deals are still in the final stages, so we don’t expect the new Bullitt to come out this year.
