In the meantime, German Auto Bild revealed some new details of the new Golf VIII, which is supposed to be revealed in 2018.
Golf VIII will be based on the VW MQB platform, and as the Auto Bild say it will be more practical for usage, more powerful, more economical and with better interior than the Golf VII. It will be a bit wider than the VII and it will weigh 35-75kg less. It will also have a lower ride height and a better interior.
In terms of visual appearance, it should not be expected any significant changes because Volkswagen doesn’t want to take risk to experiment with something new so the new generation will have the classic Golf shape.
Regarding the engine, we can expect a range of petrol units (among others and three-cylinder, 1.0-liter) and diesel version as well as a hybrid version.

A big attention attracts a new 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine and 1.5-liter TDI engine that will already be installed in the redesigned Golf VII.
Of course, as before, there will be several body types (including the caravan), and there also will be a new infotainment system, head-up display, automatic breaking, gesticulation control technology, digital instrument panel and more.
The offer will continue to remain sporty Golf GTI and Golf R, the latter with deliver up to 420 hp, while the Golf GTI Plug-in-Hybrid is also on the cards.
